Keratoconus

What is
Keratoconus?

Keratoconus is a progressive corneal disease in which the cornea thins and bulges forward into a cone-like shape, disrupting its natural curvature. This deformation prevents light from focusing properly on the retina.

The result is blurred and distorted vision, often accompanied by increased sensitivity to light and glare. It usually affects both eyes, though not always symmetrically. Keratoconus often begins in adolescence or early adulthood and tends to progress over time.

RECOMMENDED PROCEDURE:

Cross-Linking

The interaction between riboflavin and ultraviolet light triggers a photochemical reaction that creates new collagen cross-links in the cornea, strengthening and stabilizing it while improving its overall quality. This diagnosis could also be treated with: Intracorneal Rings or Corneal Transplant
